The Pantry- Grocery Pick up Program:The Grocery pick up program is an emergency support for Lakehead students. Any student who is having trouble affording food can book an appointment to pick up some food/grocery items. Students can access this support once every two weeks. STEP 1: To set up an appointment email FRC@lusu.ca . We will provide an overview of the program, hours for the week. STEP 2: When you arrive: Check in with our staff. We will ask for your student ID and name. This information is kept confidential and is simply used to keep a record of the total number of students for each month. Your information will never be shared with anyone outside the FRC Staff. STEP 3: Grocery-Store-Style System: Using the guidelines, take what you need by filling our grocery basket. Remember to check our freezer and fridge space too! STEP 4: Checkout: Checkout by letting the staff know you are finished. On your first visit, we will provide you with a reusable bag! Otherwise, please bring your own grocery bag.Chopped U Cooking Classes:Free monthly Cooking classes. A new, affordable, nutritious, culturally-diverse, vegetarian recipe each month! Free Soup Fridays:Every Friday at 12pm come to the Food Resource Centre (Room UC 2014b) for free soup, fully sponsored by Aramark. | Good Food Box:The Good Food Box is a non-profit, volunteer powered, community based, food security initiative, administered by the Northwestern Ontario Women's Centre.The box aims to improve access to fresh produce by providing a box of fruits and vegetables at a low cost ($5.00 for LU students).The Food Resource Centre distributes boxes to students on a monthly basis. Funded by LUSU and made possible in part by donations from Alumni and Friends through Lakehead's food security initiative. Students can sign up through the weekly LUSU newsletter the second Friday of each month at 5:30 pm (LUSU Newsletters are sent to your Lakehead Email).
