Anyone who enrolls in at least one course at Lakehead is automatically a member of LUSU. This makes all students (our members) entitled to an equal say in how your student union represents you and spends your union fees.
As an incorporated non-profit organization, we are guided by legislative documents such as the Not-for-Profit Corporations Act to ensure that we operate with accountability, transparency, and good governance.
Our constitution is a living document, developed over decades by students just like you. It contains foundational governing documents, including articles of incorporation, by-laws, and operational policies, which set the rules for how we operate and what we focus on. This unifying framework ensures LUSU is run fairly and efficiently, keeping us accountable to the students and community we serve.
