Please join us in welcoming Brandon Rhéal Amyot, our new Governance & Advocacy Officer!
Brandon brings several years of experience in student leadership, governance support, and advocacy, having previously served as VP Orillia, a Board member, Campaigns Commissioner, and in roles with the Canadian Federation of Students provincially and nationally.
A passionate advocate for free, accessible education and students’ rights, Brandon is committed to building inclusive, future-focused governance systems and advancing policy change that centers students’ lived experiences. They believe in governance and advocacy that break down barriers and are grounded in solidarity and community-building.
Brandon holds a Diploma in Aboriginal Community and Social Development from Georgian College and will receive a BASc in Interdisciplinary Studies from Lakehead University in June 2025.
Outside of their work with LUSU, Brandon is deeply engaged in community advocacy and has a background in politics, communications, and grassroots organizing. They are passionate about fostering leadership development, systemic advocacy, and opportunities for meaningful student engagement both on campus and beyond. In their spare time, you can find them baking, watching CBC Gem, or attending community events.
