Emergency Food Support

TERMS OF USE FOR THE LUSU FOOD RESOURCE CENTRE EMERGENCY GROCERY PICK UP PROGRAM

By accessing the LUSU FRC’s EMERGENCY GROCERY PICK UP PROGRAM, you understand that this program is meant for emergency use only.

We are here to help students in an emergency situation, facing food insecurity, meaning that you are unable to pay for food and groceries.

Given that we are a FOOD BANK, we are primarily funded by donations. What we have on our shelves is all we have available.

WE DO NOT have a “restock” date as we are not a grocery store.

We will not always have the same items available.

When we have high usage and no donations, there will be limited food items available. Therefore, we provide students with additional information on other supports in the City. If you would like these resources, let a staff member know.

Our EMERGENCY GROCERY PICK UP PROGRAM is accessible to any Lakehead who is experiencing one or more of the following

  • You are in an emergency or crisis
  • You are (or at risk) of becoming homeless
  • You are missing meals regularly
  • You are not able to afford the necessities of life (food, rent, and other essentials)
  • You are unable to work due to physical and/or mental reasons
Starting Tuesday October 10th, appointments are no longer required for emergency grocery pick up. We will be accepting walk-ins only during our opening hours.

If you have a previously scheduled appointment, you can still come at that time, or anytime during our opening hours, as long as it's been 2 weeks since your last visit.
