Term: June 12, 2023 to June 13, 2025 (2 year contract; renewable for 1 year)
Hours: 35 hours/week: Monday to Friday, some weekends/evenings as required

The Lakehead University Student Union (LUSU) is looking for a passionate, creative, and engaged Programming & Services Coordinator. They will be responsible for creating and implementing programming (events and campaigns) and assisting with services that enhance the overall student life experience and promote engagement within the students’ union, while fostering a positive and inclusive campus cultureandproviding support to students.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Developing and implementing the union’s student programming with events that include (but are not limited to) Orientation, Clubs’ Day, Consent Week, Black History Month, Indigenous Solidarity Week, and Pride Week;
Representing the Student Union on various committees, including the Student Programming and Orientation Committees;
Assisting with programming for The Food Resource Collective, such as cooking classes, The Fresh Market, and Good Food Box orders;
Assisting with in-office student engagement, service-related inquiries (U-Pass, Health & Dental Plan, and The Food Resource Collective), and support-related inquiries from students;
Developing event budgets and securing sponsorships or funding;
Developing and maintaining relationships with clubs as well as campus and community partners;
Coordinating with vendors and facilities to secure event spaces;
Coordinating with staff on promotional materials and assisting with social media and promotions;
Overseeing event setup and execution, and overseeing student volunteers;
Supporting and promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives and creating events that are accessible and operate from an anti-oppressive framework;
Staying current on trends and best practices in student engagement;
Ensuring programming is consistent with the union’s governing documents and principles; and
Related roles and responsibilities as needed.
*Please note this is an in-person position based in Orillia, Ontario.
Qualifications:
Background in event planning and experience working with student organizations, non-profits, or in similar environments is preferred;
Creativity and a passion for creating meaningful and inclusive events that celebrate diversity and promote a positive campus and community;
Enthusiastic about connecting with people and providing support;
Experience in recruiting and coordinating volunteers;
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills;
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; and
Possession of a valid driver’s license is an asset but not required.
