Meet Omolayo Adepoju

I’m Omolayo, a third-year Economics major at Lakehead’s Thunder Bay campus who genuinely cares about student life and helping students feel connected on campus. Through my involvement with LUSU clubs and other campus activities, I’ve seen how much student leadership shapes our experience, from the events we attend to the resources and advocacy we rely on. That perspective is what motivated me to run for the Board. I want to help make sure student voices are genuinely heard in decisions that affect us, and contribute to building a campus where students feel supported, represented, and engaged.

I’ve held executive roles in several LUSU clubs, where I was involved in planning events, engaging students, and working with different teams to bring ideas to life. Being a current Board member has also given me firsthand experience with how decisions are made and what thoughtful governance looks like from the inside.

These roles have really strengthened my ability to listen, communicate, and advocate for student needs in a structured setting. Studying economics has also helped me develop strong critical‑thinking skills, which I bring into Board discussions to help make decisions that are fair, informed, and grounded in what students actually need.

I want to help create a campus environment where students feel informed, included, and confident getting involved. If elected, I hope to support clearer communication between leadership and students, raise awareness of the resources we already have, and encourage opportunities that bring people together across programs and communities. My goal is to help foster a space where students feel both supported and empowered throughout their time here.
