Meet Kamakshi Borgohain
I am a Computer Science student studying at Lakehead University currently serving as a House President and Global Student Ambassador and I am motivated to run for the LUSU Board of Directors because I am passionate about creating a supportive and inclusive campus environment where every student feels heard and represented.
Through my experience as a House President, I have worked closely with students, listening to their concerns, and advocated for their needs by connecting them with appropriate resources and services. This role has helped me understand the importance of student representation and how meaningful changes can occur when student voices are actively brought into decision-making spaces. Additionally, my involvement as a Global Ambassador has allowed me to engage with a diverse student community and better understand the challenges students face while transitioning to student life.
My vision for the student body is to help create a campus environment where all students feels supported, represented and empowered to actively participate in university life. I aim to foster a stronger sense of community by ensuring that student voices are consistently heard and reflected in decisions that impact their academic, social and personal experiences. If elected to the Board of Directors, I hope to advocate for improved student wellbeing initiatives and more opportunities for student engagement and participation.
