Meet Hafiz Rahman

My name is Hafizur Rahman, and I am currently an undergraduate student in business administration at Lakehead University. Through my studies, I have built a strong foundation in management, governance, and organizational decision‑making, which has prepared me to contribute meaningfully at the board level.

I am motivated to run for this Board of Directors position because I want to help strengthen the connection between students and leadership and ensure that strategic decisions reflect the needs and voices of our community. I have previous experience working closely with the Board of Directors at Georgian College, which has given me insight into board processes, stakeholder engagement, and the responsibilities that come with this role.

By combining my academic background with this practical experience, I hope to support transparent, accountable, and student‑focused governance on the Board.

My background combines hands‑on election administration, student leadership, and small‑business experience that directly prepare me for this role.

As a returning officer, central poll officer, and central supervisor in municipal, provincial, and federal elections in Barrie, I have managed poll operations, enforced legislation and procedures, supervised teams, and protected ballot security and accurate vote counting. These roles strengthened my attention to detail, integrity, ability to follow strict rules, and capacity to make fair decisions under pressure.

At Lakehead University, I serve as Global Ambassador and Acting Vice President of Enactus Lakehead, where I support international students, plan and deliver events, collaborate with campus departments, and promote resources through social media. This experience has developed my communication, teamwork, and leadership skills, as well as my commitment to inclusion and student engagement.

In addition, I work as a tax professional at Hafiz Tax Clinic, which has given me experience in client service, confidentiality, and handling sensitive financial information with accuracy and professionalism.

Together, these experiences have prepared me to act impartially, communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders, manage complex processes, and uphold high standards of accountability and trust in this role.

My vision for the Lakehead University student body is to build an inclusive, engaged, and empowered community where every student feels supported academically, socially, and personally. I want Lakehead to be a place where diverse voices are heard, student concerns lead to action, and every student has the opportunity to succeed and contribute to campus life.

If elected, my priorities will be to strengthen student well-being by advocating for improved mental health supports and accessible academic resources. I will promote inclusion by supporting programs that bring domestic, international, and Indigenous students together and ensure clear access to essential services and guidance.

I will actively gather student feedback through forums and surveys to ensure student voices guide decisions, while advocating transparently on issues such as tuition, services, and academic policies. I also aim to enhance campus life by supporting student-led initiatives, leadership opportunities, and community engagement in Orillia and Barrie.

Above all, I will communicate openly, remain approachable, and ensure students feel represented, respected, and equipped to achieve their goals.

People can learn more about my campaign by visiting my social media pages, attending campus events, and contacting me directly by email or message with any questions.
