Meet Faisal Al-Saati
My name is Faisal Al-Saati, I have always been motivated to represent people and advocate for them. I was motivated to run for this position due to my interest in ensuring comprehensive representation for the student body, I hear many complaints from my fellow students – I wish to alleviate these concerns advocate for change and make lasting functional changes to better the experience of an education from Lakehead University Orillia.
In every organization I have worked for, or been a part of I have left a lasting impact, or fundamental change.
In high school, I directed several short films, one of which went to an international film festival. This displays my skills at communication, organization and leadership.
I have worked several jobs as well:
I was a manager at McDonald’s for two years.
I was a Game Master at Escape Room Barrie for six months – where I took every opportunity presented to make lasting changes – and innovate with new ideas.
I now currently work for the Ontario New Democratic Party – organizing and canvassing.
In university, I am the treasurer of the Lakehead University NDP club.
I would advocate in support of the Orillia Building Referendum, this could add new opportunities for students and long term will benefit the university.
I would advocate for less barriers for students to create clubs, organizations, or access university spaces.
I would communicate with the many ridings in Simcoe County to have the Simcoe Linx transit run till at least the ending of the latest class – increasing the accessibility and attendance of classes.
I would seek to reform the way students communicate with there representatives to ensure the greatest amount of representation possible, creating a well known, and well utilized form of communication.
